Through the food security and nutrition program in November and December, provincial specific development grants of Rs. 5.00 under which benefits are to be received. According to the Circular No. PS/FSD/Circular/13/2022 issued by the President's Secretary, the program implemented by the Local Government Department as per the instructions to prepare a provincial joint mechanism for food security and nutrition and take immediate action for it, on World Children's Day 2022 Started in October.
Accordingly, 4006 children in 132 pre-schools selected in rural and remote areas from the pre-schools operated by local governments in the southern province will be provided with nutritional meals for 8 days (2 days per week) in October 2022 under provincial specific development grants.
Also, providing nutritional meals for the remaining pre-school children operating under the local government bodies will be done using the funds owned by those local government bodies.
At the same time, children are being made aware of the need for food safety and with the participation of pre-school children and parents, they are also encouraged to grow food crops in pots.
For this purpose, it is being done with the support of honorary chairpersons of local government institutions, community development officers and other task forces.
